Deep fried Tilapia Fish

Deep fried red chili tilapia with basil and garlic chili sauce (Thai)

Ingredients

1 whole tilapia, cleaned and scaled
1 quart oil for deep fry
2 tablespoon oil for sauce
2 teaspoon red chili powder
Salt to taste
5 large red chili peppers
2 tablespoon minced garlic
1 onion chopped
2 tablespoons fish sauce
2 tablespoons light soy sauce
1.5 tablespoon garlic chili sauce
1/4 cup basil leaves

Procedure

Make several angled slits on all sides of the fish. Marinate with salt and red chili pepper. Deep fry the fish for like 10-12 minutes until it gets brown. Take the fish out and drain the oil. On a separate saucepan heat oil and add red chili peppers cut in half, onions, minced garlic, fish oil, soy sauce, chili sauce and basil leaves and cook for 4-5 min. Serve the sauce mixture on the fish. Apply lime juice on the fish while serving.

  1. While the fish drains, heat 2 tablespoons oil in a large skillet. Cook and stir the chili peppers, garlic, and onion in the hot oil until lightly browned, 5 to 7 minutes. Stir the fish sauce and soy sauce into the mixture, remove from heat, and fold the Thai basil and cilantro into the mixture. Pour the sauce over the fish to serve.
